Sweet Pea’s Cloth Diaper Washing Process

We are currently the ONLY cloth diaper service in the Greater Rochester and Monroe County area. We are members of the Real Diaper Association (RDA). The Real Diaper Association is an organization whose mission is to supply cloth diaper advocacy to businesses in the industry.

Our process of cleaning the diapers is very environmentally friendly. In fact, it is much more environmentally friendly than home-laundering because there is less water and detergent used per diaper.

Our diapers are also randomly tested on a regular basis to ensure that the ph balance of our cloth diapers are the cleanest they can be.

We have industrial washer and dryers, designed specifically for the cloth diaper service industry. We use a 13-step process of high heat, soaping, soaking and flushing. The detergents and solutions used are precisely measured to ensure all residues have been rinsed out of the diapers. The detergents and solutions are not all-natural because, at this time, there is not a product offered for diaper services that is all-natural. We are using products that are as close to natural as possible, such as, enzymes to break down the waste to be flushed out of the diapers. There is a very minimal amount of bleach used because it is the only product that is going to kill any bacteria. Sanitary conditions are the most important part of the cloth diaper business.

This whole wash process is to ensure that your baby’s skin is against clean, soft, 100% cotton, instead of disposable diapers that fill our landfills for 200-500 years.
